How do I record and upload speeches in Canvas using Kaltura?

  1. Accessing the Assignment
    • Locate the assignment in Canvas under modules.
    • Review the assignment details and guidelines.
  2. Go to MyMedia and Install Kaltura Capture
    • Open a new tab and go to mymedia.waubonsee.edu.
    • Sign in using your X-number and password.
    • Click on "Add" in the top right corner and select Kaltura Personal Capture.
    • Download Kaltura Capture if it's your first time using it.

  3. Recording with Kaltura Capture
    • Start the recording using the big red button on the control panel.
    • Adjust audio, camera, and screen sharing settings if needed.
    • Use features like a digital whiteboard if desired, using the pencil icon.
    • Stop, pause, or cancel the recording as required.Use the white box to stop the recording, “X” to cancel it and the red button to pause the recording. 
  4. Saving and Uploading
    • Save and upload the recording.
    • Wait for the processing to complete.
    • Ensure the video is saved and processed successfully on MyMedia. 
  5. Adjusting Privacy Settings
    • Underneath the video, change the privacy settings to "Unlisted" for sharing with your peers and professor.
    • Copy the link to the media page.
  6. Submitting the Assignment
    • Paste the link into the text box in the Canvas assignment submission.
    • Verify the link works by opening it in a new tab.
    • Submit the assignment to make the video accessible to peer reviewers and the professor.
