Is it ok to eat / drink in the library?

I have a huge paper to write and was wondering if it was ok to have something to eat and drink while I'm working?

Answer

Research has shown that students are able to learn better when they're well nourished, and eating healthy meals has been linked to higher grades, better memory and alertness, and faster information processing.

That being said, none of the library staff will judge you for eating a bag of chips and washing it down with some Mountain Dew.   We ask that if you are eating messy or greasy food, please clean your hands before handling library materials.

If you do spill something, let staff know and they can help you get supplies to clean up and can also notify the custodial crew that extra cleaning of the area may be needed.
